Many people use Claude Code to write code, modify projects, and even use it to complete article creation every day, but few people realize that it can also become a dedicated AI image production tool. I recently tried something Claude Code + Codex + GPT Image The workflow integrates all image generation tasks such as article covers, pictures, and social media materials into one work environment. The entire process does not require frequent switching of web pages, and there is no need to manually download and organize pictures, truly realizing the integration from content creation to visual design.

In the past, my workflow has always had an obvious breakpoint. The article can be handed over to Claude Code to write, and the code can be handed over to it to modify, but when it comes to the image section, you must open ChatGPT or other image generation tool, enter the prompt words, wait for the image to be generated, download, and then move the file to the project directory. Although it only takes a few minutes each time, what is really wasted is not the time, but the interruption of attention caused by constantly switching tools. For people who need to create a large amount of content every day, this repeated switch will continue to disrupt the creative rhythm.

Later, I discovered that as long as it cooperates with Codex CLI, Claude Code can fully undertake the scheduling work of image generation. The entire process can be understood as the collaboration of three roles: Claude Code is responsible for understanding article content, analyzing requirements, and planning visual solutions;Codex CLI is responsible for executing commands, calling tools, and managing files; and GPT Image is responsible for the final image generation. After combining the three, you can directly complete various visual materials such as article covers, information maps, small red book first pictures, X long text accompanying pictures, Newsletter illustrations, etc. in Claude Code without leaving the current project.

If you want to experience this process, you first need to install Codex CLI. may be used npm install -g @openai/codex, or implemented through Homebrew brew install --cask codex Complete the installation and run codex login Log in to your ChatGPT account. After the authorization is completed, Codex can call the corresponding capabilities without requiring additional configuration of API Key (the details are subject to the official support method).

After completing the configuration, it is very simple to actually use it. For example, you just need to tell Claude Code: "Use Codex to call GPT Image to make a technology-sensitive cover for this article on AI workflow and save it to the current project directory." Subsequently, Claude Code will automatically analyze the theme of the article, organize the visual direction, generate suitable picture prompts, call GPT Image to complete the generation, and save the picture to the specified location. The entire process requires almost no human intervention, and you focus on the final result, not how each step is executed.

However, I think the real value of this workflow is not that it automatically generates pictures, but that it can be further precipitated into one of its own. AI image generation Skill。Many people are used to saving a large number of Prompt, and they have to copy and paste each time they generate pictures, telling the AI what style they like, what size they need, and where to save the pictures. Although this method is effective, it is not efficient in the long run. In contrast, by consolidating these rules into a fixed process and letting Claude Code be automatically invoked, a reusable workflow can be truly formed.

This Skill can include your own brand style, common color matching, cover layout, picture scale, prompt template, file naming rules, and material saving location. In the future, you only need to enter the sentence "generate a picture for this article", and Claude Code will complete the entire process in accordance with the established specifications, without having to repeat all the details. As the number of uses increases, your aesthetics, work habits and output specifications will gradually settle down, and the results output by AI will become more and more in line with your needs.

This is also the biggest difference between Skill and ordinary Prompt. Prompt is more like a one-time instruction that requires redescribing requirements every time; Skill is more like a standardized workflow that leaves all repetitive work to AI to complete automatically. A truly efficient AI application is not to continuously optimize Prompt, but to continuously optimize its own workflow.

In my opinion, the biggest advantage of this plan is that it clarifies the division of labor between different AI's. Claude Code is good at understanding articles, analyzing structure, and planning visual content;Codex is good at executing commands, calling tools, and managing files;GPT Image focuses on image generation. Each tool is responsible for what it is best at, and the entire process is clear and efficient.

For example, when you complete an AI tutorial, you just need to tell Claude Code: "Generate 5 accompanying pictures based on this article." It can automatically disassemble the content, plan the cover, flow chart, case display, data card and end guide diagram, and then uniformly hand it to Codex to call GPT Image to complete batch generation. This method of planning and outputting multiple images at a time is more in line with the real needs of content creators than generating only one image at a time. The same article can also generate material suitable for multiple platforms such as X, Little Red Book, video cover, Newsletter and blog at the same time, greatly reducing duplication of work.

In the AI era, what really opens up the gap is not who has more tools, but who has a more mature workflow. Claude Code is not just a code assistant, it can also be the center console for the entire content creation process. When you condense your rules, aesthetics, and working methods into a set of reusable skills, AI truly changes from a chat tool to a productivity partner that can continue to help you complete your work.
