On Wednesday last year, Apple held a press conference and announced that although the iPhone 5 has not yet started to be sold, it has just begun to be booked. More than 2 million units have been booked in 24 hours, setting a new record for the iPhone 5. What Xiaobian wants to talk about most is the issue of the iPhone 5's mobile phone card. Everyone knows that iPhone 4s and other cards need to be cut, and the iPhone 5 is no exception. For some ignorant people, they think that the iPhone 5 cannot use a mobile phone card, just like the touch.. Without saying much, let's talk about card cutting for the iPhone 5.

The iPhone will be available on the 21st, and Apple retail stores in Hong Kong will also provide the iPhone 5, which means that some domestic users will soon get the iPhone 5 first. However, the iPhone 5 adopts the new Nano-SIM card standard. How is the progress of domestic operators preparing Nano-SIM cards? I think many customers who are preparing to buy the iPhone 5 are very concerned about this issue.

The first is the two major domestic operators, China Mobile and China Unicom. In the past two days, the Nano-SIM cards of China Mobile and China Unicom have been exposed one after another. It is believed that these two major operators will soon launch Nano-SIM card replacement services, of which China Unicom launches the Wo·3G card. News came from within China Unicom yesterday that they are expected to provide Nano-SIM cards as soon as this week. Beijing Mobile also said that it can provide users with free Nano-SIM replacement services by the end of this month. As for China Telecom, they also hope to provide Nano-SIM cards by the end of the month, and all three operators are working hard to snatch users. Therefore, the first batch of iPhone 5 users did not have to worry about not having a Nano-SIM card.

In addition, various card cutting tutorials have also begun to appear on the Internet. Nano-SIM is 12% thinner than Micro-SIM and has a smaller size than Micro-SIM, which means that users who want to cut cards cannot just cut the size of the small card this time, but also cut it a little thinner. Nowadays, Nano-SIM card cutters sold online cannot polish the thickness of the card. Users still need to patiently grind the thickness of the card. According to standards officially published by the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI), the Nano-SIM is 12.3 mm wide, 8.8 mm high and 0.67 mm thick. After testing, it was found that the iPhone 5 card slot can accommodate a maximum thickness of 0.70 mm. In other words, we must grind the card to at least 0.70 mm. As you can also see from this tutorial diagram, cutting from an ordinary Mini-SIM to a Nano-SIM requires a lot of cutting. Even if you cut it from Micro-SIM to Nano-SIM, the edge still needs to be cut off a lot.

To ensure accuracy, first we download the original diagram of this tutorial (original.rar (662K) downloads:0) and print it out on A4 paper standard settings. Do not change the size of the picture before printing. Place your card in the corresponding position, align it, and use a ruler and stroke lines. The lighter color lines in the picture are the parts to be cut along the lines, and the diagonal lines are the cutting positions for the corner cutting parts. Everyone may be worried that if you need to cut the metal part now, it will affect the normal use of the card. In fact, the chip of a SIM card is very small. As shown in the fourth step of the figure, cutting a Micro-SIM into a Nano-SIM still does not affect the normal use of the card, but it does not rule out that the card will fail due to improper operation by the user. Finally, find a piece of sandpaper or secretly use your girlfriend's nail polish tool to polish the edges and back. Pay attention to the thickness when polishing the back, and try to see if you can put it in while polishing, but do not force it.

Although the tutorial in the picture is very accurate, the author still does not recommend you cutting and grinding cards here. After cutting the cards, it is even more inappropriate to use card stickers to turn small cards into large ones, which will easily damage the card slot of the mobile phone. Remind again that after cutting the Nano-SIM card, you must polish the thickness before placing it in the iPhone 5 card slot, otherwise the iPhone 5 card slot will be damaged.
