AI makes ancient poems "come alive": From thousand-year poetry to dynamic national style images in the digital age

The beauty of China classical poetry lies in the infinite space contained in limited words. The sentence "The lonely sail shadows the blue sky in the distance" makes people see the vast river sky; the sentence "The moon sets, the black cries and the frost fills the sky" makes people feel the coolness of the autumn night. For thousands of years, poetry has relied on the inheritance of words, as well as painting, music, opera and other art forms to continue. Today, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence, ancient poetry is ushering in a new way of expression-from words on paper to dynamic pictures on the screen.

hbg-classical-poem-silk-video It was in this context that an AI creative project was born. The project attempts to use artificial intelligence technology to transform China classical poetry into dynamic videos with traditional China aesthetic characteristics. Through multiple links such as poetry understanding, picture generation, video animation, sound design and quality testing, the mountains and rivers hidden behind the poems are re-presented to the audience.

Different from ordinary AI image generation, this project does not simply generate an "ancient image" based on poems, but hopes to establish a complete poetry image creation process. The creator first needs to understand the core images in the poem, including time, place, characters, environment and emotional atmosphere, and then transform these textual information into visual language. For example, a poem describing spring can be disassembled into elements such as green mountains, flowing water, flowers, birds, pedestrians, etc.; a poem describing the scenery of a border fortress can present scenes such as deserts, long winds, lonely cities, and war horses.

This transformation from text to screen makes AI no longer just a generation tool, but a creative partner that helps understand and express traditional culture. The "scene" in the poem is transformed into the space in the picture, and the "emotion" in the poem is transmitted through color, composition, action and sound, allowing the audience to enter the poet's spiritual world more intuitively.

In terms of visual design, the project focuses on traditional China painting styles. China painting does not pursue complete realism, but focuses on artistic conception, charm and blank space. Therefore, the project attempts to combine different art forms such as ink landscape, fine brushwork, and green landscape to choose an appropriate expression method based on the content of the poetry.

For example, when expressing Jiangnan water towns, an elegant and soft ink style can be adopted to highlight the hazy beauty of misty rain, flowing water and distant mountains; when expressing royal gardens or the atmosphere of the Tang Dynasty, a green landscape style can be adopted to show a more gorgeous visual effect; When expressing character stories, you can learn from the composition method of traditional figure paintings to form a unified artistic space between the characters and the environment.

One of the biggest challenges in AI video generation is how to control dynamic effects. Traditional animations can be designed by artists frame by frame, while AI-generated videos are prone to problems such as character changes, building distortions, and abnormal number of objects. In response to this feature, the project emphasizes "letting the picture flow naturally" rather than letting all elements change at the same time.

In actual production, the subject in the picture usually remains stable, with only subtle movements that conform to the logic of the scene added. For example, mountains and rivers maintain their original structure, and clouds move slowly; the lake surface produces slight ripples; branches shake with the wind; and birds fly according to their natural trajectories. This kind of processing makes the video dynamic without destroying the original tranquility and implicit nature of China painting.

In addition to visual effects, the project also adds sound and subtitle design to make the work more complete. Ancient poetry itself has a unique sense of rhythm, so background music, environmental sound and poetry recitation can further enhance the immersive experience. For example, poems describing the night scenery of rivers can add water flow, wind wind and distant bells; poems describing spring scenery can add bird chirps, breeze and natural environment sounds.

The subtitle part adopts a form of expression with the characteristics of China calligraphy, allowing the text to become not just information prompts, but part of the picture. The poem appears in the form of calligraphy and is integrated with the background of traditional Chinese painting, continuing the aesthetic way of combining "poetry, calligraphy and painting" in traditional China art.

From a technical perspective,hbg-classical-poem-silk-video It demonstrates the application value of AI in the field of digitalization of traditional culture. In the past, producing a video work with national characteristics required multiple links such as screenwriting, art design, animation production, and music production, which was often difficult for individual creators to complete. The development of AI tools has enabled more people to participate in the creation of cultural content, making the dissemination of traditional culture more possible.

From the perspective of cultural communication, such projects are more far-reaching. Ancient poetry does not only exist in textbooks and books. It itself has vitality that spans the times. Through artificial intelligence technology, the mountains and rivers, winds and moons, characters and emotions in ancient poems can be reinterpreted and approached young people in a way that is more in line with modern communication habits.

Of course, AI cannot replace real artistic creation. The thoughts, emotions and cultural connotations in poetry still require human understanding and aesthetic judgment. Artificial intelligence is more like a bridge that connects traditional culture with modern technology, allowing more excellent works to have new communication channels.

In the future, as AI video generation, digital art and intelligent creation tools continue to develop, there may be more and more similar projects. We may be able to see more ancient poems, ancient paintings, and historical stories re-presented through digital technology, allowing cultural memories from thousands of years ago to continue to flow today.

From words to pictures, from static to dynamic, from ancient poetry to modern technology,hbg-classical-poem-silk-video What we explore is not only a video production method, but also a new direction for the innovative dissemination of traditional culture. It allows us to see that the beauty of classics is not far away, but is just waiting for new technologies and new expressions to awaken it again.
