The first day I used WorkBuddy, I did something really stupid.
I dragged in all the reimbursement forms for the previous month and entered only four words:
"Help me organize it."
Within a minute, it submitted an Excel sheet.
The speed is indeed fast.
But when I opened it, my blood pressure went up directly.
Some amounts include tax and some are not taxed; half of the date format reads "2026/07/01" and the other half reads "07-01"; there are also several invoices that are directly judged as "duplicate" and simply not counted.
The first reaction was only one sentence:
This AI is nothing more than that.
Later, I reviewed my prompt words again and suddenly realized a problem.
I didn't tell it at all:
- Whether the amount is calculated based on whether tax includes or not tax;
- What format should the dates be unified into;
- How to deal with data that cannot be judged;
- Whether abnormal data is allowed to be skipped.
In other words, I left all decisions to AI.
And AI did something that any machine would do--Guess for yourself.
That's the problem.
AI will never know what you really want just by saying "Help me organize".
It can only choose the execution method that it deems the most reasonable and lowest cost based on the information it has available.
Many people think that AI is not smart enough. In fact, the real problem is not AI, but that we will not give up our work.
If you have ever worked with a new person, you probably have this experience.
Say one thing:
"Organize this information."
Newcomers will definitely ask:
Compiled into Word or Excel?
What content is retained?
What can be deleted?
When will it be due?
To what extent is accomplished?
But AI won't ask.
You didn't say it, it made its own decision.
As a result, the result is often not "doing it wrong", but "doing it wrong".
This week, I have been torturing WorkBuddy almost every day.
Organize documents, merge Excel, write weekly reports, generate PPT, summarize meeting minutes, connect mailbox, automate daily newspapers...
After stepping on many pitfalls, I also figured out a method that can truly use AI as a colleague.
Later, I discovered that the greatest value of WorkBuddy is not chatting.
Instead, we really hand over to it the tasks that are repetitive, mechanical, and time-consuming every day.
If you just think of it as ChatGPT chatting, you will only use 20% of its ability at most.
The person who really knows how to use it has turned it into a digital employee who works around the clock.
So, what exactly is WorkBuddy?
Simply put, it is an AI office assistant launched by Tencent Cloud.
Unlike ordinary chat robots, it can not only answer questions, but also really help you "work".
For example:
- Automatically organize files on the computer;
- Batch processing Word, Excel, PDF;
- Summarize meeting recordings and generate minutes;
- Analyze data and create charts;
- Generate PPT based on documents;
- Call mailbox to send mail;
- Connect to office platforms such as Tencent Document, Flying Book, and QQ Email;
- Automatically execute tasks according to the set time.
In other words, it can not only think, but also execute.
What really opens the gap between it and traditional AI is that it has begun to have "hands-on capabilities."
Of course, the stronger the ability, the more you need to use it correctly.
If you use it as a search engine, it can only answer questions.
If you use it as a chat robot, it can only chat with you.
But if you treat it as a new colleague who has just joined the company and learn to assign tasks, set rules, and accept results, then it can truly share the work for you.
This is also the problem that this tutorial wants to solve.
Next, I will start with the installation and take you step by step to train WorkBuddy into an AI assistant that can truly work.
What will you learn from this tutorial?
In order to avoid being too fragmented, I reorganized the entire set of knowledge according to the actual usage process.
The full text is divided into nine parts:
Chapter 1: What WorkBuddy can do and why it's different from ordinary AI.
Chapter 2: What details need to be paid attention to during the first installation to avoid stepping on pits.
Chapter 3: Why the workspace determines the quality of AI's work.
Chapter 4: What scenarios are the default mode, Plan mode, and Ask mode suitable for?
Chapter 5: How to write high-quality instructions that AI can complete in one go.
Chapter 6: How to use projects, memories and rules to make AI understand you more and more.
Chapter 7: What is the difference between skills, experts, connectors and assistants?
Chapter 8: How to hand over repetitive work to automation and let AI go to work on its own every day.
Chapter 9: A seven-day training method allows you to truly learn to collaborate with AI instead of chatting.
After reading it, you won't just learn to use one piece of software.
More importantly, you will establish a new way of working.
In the future, whether you use WorkBuddy, Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI tools, this approach will apply equally.
